An effective leader, LEADS.
They won’t ask others to do what they’re not willing to do.
Despite obvious risk, leaders show up and step up.
Leaders are the buffers who take the heat.
Not easily provoked, leaders know actions speak louder than words.
𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑑𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑡 𝑎 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑤ℎ𝑜 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚?
The team will follow, support, and immediately have their leaders back.
𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑡𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑠𝑝𝑜𝑡 𝑎 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑤ℎ𝑜 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑢𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚?
The team is not just supportive of their leader; they are fiercely protective!
With deep loyalty, team members will defend and vouch for their leader without being asked whenever they get the opportunity.
𝐻𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑎 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑤ℎ𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑙𝑜𝑦𝑎𝑙 𝑡𝑜?
𝐻𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑑 𝑎 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑤ℎ𝑜 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑘𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑎 𝑑𝑜𝑢𝑏𝑡 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑎𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡?
A team with a leader they trust won’t need to be asked; they are proactive about helping.
A team with a leader they trust is always looking for ways to express their gratitude for those who make them feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
💥 Some say leading is tough and not for the faint of heart…
But when you ensure your people feel seen, heard, and appreciated – you’ve turned a tough role into a rewarding one.
If you find that leading a team is tough and thankless - focus less on yourself and more on your people.
It takes courage to step up and take the heat, but that’s what you signed up for.
That’s what you’re Called to do.
Lean into it.
Be a part of co-creating a work culture that inspires, rather that tires.
Lead your team in a way that others want to model.
When folks start asking, "Whoa! How did you get them to do all of that?" - you're on the right track.
It starts with you. You got this!

It has been a joy to serve as keynote speaker or panel member at countless events. I have a combined 9+ years of adjunct instruction, teaching over twenty different courses at four institutions. I am always looking for opportunities to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in-person, virtually, or hybrid.
