Introducing THE "Reverend Ebony C. Peace"

Updated: 2 days ago

Wow, it happened! I’m officially a “Reverend” 💞

Does this mean that I’m going to drop everything and run off into the sunset to start my own church?

No, not quite, but I’m glad you asked! 😊

I have been multi-vocational for a long time, and I LOVE it!

Serving my students, clients, congregants, and association members brings me deep fulfillment.

I’m someone who’s often lived at a naturally high frequency. I didn’t choose or try to be this way. I’ve come to understand that it’s just the way I’m wired.

What some around me labeled as “a lot” was just my normal. Anything less might cause me to feel bored and uninspired.

I realized I was a bit different when in high school - I was recognized in my Navy Junior ROTC program as being the first female and black person period, to hold the position of Operations Officer in our unit’s history.

This was not a goal of mine; it just happened organically.

Then in college one professor confessed that I was the first Sociology major to graduate in three years instead of four. I was also the president of two clubs at the same time, which I was told was unusual.

The truth was I just wanted to take all of the classes I enjoyed...and leading others was empowering. I was just doing what felt right for me.

My lived experience is that when we're doing things we deeply enjoy, it doesn’t feel like work.

It feels like a gift that keeps giving.

A cup that keeps being filled.

What’s funny is that I don’t consider myself a “workaholic” at all, though I must admit my oldest brother use to tease me with this term all the time when we were younger.

For the past year and a half, I have had a revelation about priorities and self-care. Since then, I have devoted myself to savoring my rest and re-engaging in my most precious hobbies.

I always enjoyed my work, but I became deliberate about saying No more often so I could add more play and softness to my life.

Just because we enjoy our work...doesn’t mean work is all there is to life.

Life isn’t just about work.

It’s about the people we work with and how we do the work - together.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨.

It’s about those who we’re impacting and including.

𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙪𝙨, 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙪𝙨.

It’s about NOT forgetting to work on ourselves, while we’re working for others.

𝙏𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩, 𝙬𝙚 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨.

It’s about leaning into self-care so we can better care for the world that needs us.
